Weather in Pakistan

In this piece of article, you will learn all about the Weather in Pakistan.

Weather in Pakistan

A Brief Introduction

Pakistan shares the border with the west of India and to the north by the extremely high mountains known as the Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and Pamir, which are a part of the Himalayas, and to the west by lower-altitude mountains that form the border with Afghanistan.

The region at the foot of the mountains is extremely wet, and we also find a chilly area in the mountains as well as a frozen area on the peaks of the Himalayas.

Pakistan is located in a temperate region. The temperate climate varies as much as the terrain of the nation; it is often dry and hot at the coast and along the Indus River’s lowland plains, and gradually gets cooler in the northern uplands and Himalayas. The weather is typically dry, with scorching summers, chilly or cold winters, and vast swings in temperature extremes at specific sites.

Mostly Pakistan has a semi-arid or desert environment that is tropical or subtropical. It also has a coastline that overlooks the Arabian Sea to the south. For instance, the Arabian Sea’s shoreline is often mild, but the frozen, snow-covered peaks of the Karakoram Range and other far-northern mountains are so chilly all year that they are only reachable by top climbers in May and June each year.

There is hardly much rain. Except the Northern parts, where monsoons may bring up to 200 mm of rain each month from July to September, the bulk of the country has very little rainfall.

Significant inter-annual variations in rainfall frequently result in repeated patterns of flooding and drought. A branch of the Indian monsoon enters the nation in the summer, from mid-July to mid-September, but it can’t deliver substantial rainfall to much of the country and doesn’t enter the western section at all.

Due to their high temperatures in plains, hills, and even at somewhat high elevations, the months before the monsoon, especially June, are the warmest.

Even though Pakistan has a mostly tropical environment, there are several differences at the same time. The country’s weather is also quite different throughout its territory: the highlands always have a cold, snowy winter, while the lowlands experience a monsoon-tropical temperature. In the north, however, the climate is more humid and chilly.

Pakistan has four distinct seasons: a mild, dry winter from December through February; a hot, dry spring from March through May; the southwest monsoon period, or summer rainy season, from June through September; and the receding monsoon season from October through November.

Summer Season

Weather in Pakistan

The longest and hottest season, it often begins to move into the plains regions around the beginning of May and lasts until the middle of July. This entire time, the temperature has been pretty high; the evenings are hot enough. Coastal locations often have temperatures around +29 °C (85 °F), whereas desert regions have temperatures much higher around +35 °C (95 °F).

Temperatures are lowered by the Indian monsoon, which often arrives from the south around the beginning of July or occasionally August and traverses almost the whole nation. So the summer is now getting milder by the day. High humidity and stifling air are brought by sea breezes.

And then, around the end of June, when the first rains arrive, summer finally gives way to pleasant, comfortable days. These downpours are often brief, intense, and frequently accompanied by thunderstorms. In Pakistan, the period of heinous rains lasts from mid-summer to early autumn.

Spring Season

Weather in Pakistan

In mountainous areas, warm and mild spring often arrives in the early days of March, but in May. Nevertheless, the gentle spring season doesn’t endure very long and quickly gives way to the sweltering summer months. As the number of long, bright days lengthens, the temperature rises steadily.

Typically, the temperature in March is close to +20 °C (68 °F), and by the middle of April, it is already close to +30 °C (86 °F). Throughout this time, a severe shortage of precipitation has been noted.

Winter Season

Weather in Pakistan

Plains are never approached by winter with snow. Here, it never gets too chilly. It is pretty cool here even if there is no snow and strong cold winds. Rainstorms that are both intense and brief are typical in Pakistani winters. However, desert regions are an anomaly, where the temperature never drops below freezing, even at night.

Autumn Season

Weather in Pakistan

On the plains, fall arrives in early October; in mountainous regions, it arrives even earlier, in early September. In the Highlands, there is just the bitterly cold winter weather. The greatest time to view the country is in the fall, which is a really pleasant and mellow season. Day by day, the temperature rises; it typically reaches +20 °C (68 °F) in November and +27 °C (81 °F) in October.
