Pakistan’s efforts to promote international tourism

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s efforts to promote international tourism, including the elimination of terrorism.

Proof of the encouraging results of the measures is the tweet from the World Bank Country Director confirming a

6-point increase in the sector’s indicators.

In the global ranking of the tourism sector in 2019, Pakistan was ranked 89th which will become 83rd in 2021.

According to the World Bank, the main reasons for the improvement in the indicators are a favorable business environment,

broader tourist security, and improved infrastructure in the sector.

Efforts to Promote International Tourism:

Mr. Najy Benhassine, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Congratulated Pakistan in a tweet on his Twitter account.

He said, “Congratulations to #Pakistan for improving its rank by 6 pts (from 89th in 2019 to 83rd in 2021) on the 2021 International Travel&Tourism Dev. Index. The country’s improved performance is on the back of an enabling business env., enhanced tourist security, &connectivity infrastructure.”

Today, Pakistan is in dire need of the attention of international tourists in terms of its natural landscapes, monuments

of four thousand years old civilization, mountaineering, and other historical buildings. And the unfavorable conditions

in the region drove them away from us.

Tips to Promote Tourism in Pakistan

Thus, the fastest-growing country in tourism lags behind the others, while Pakistan received the highest growth in this sector

in the 1970s, through which the country’s handicrafts became popular all over the world and the rupee against the dollar.

The value remained stable.

After the successful completion of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and anti-corruption, when the law and order situation returned

to normal, 1.9 million foreign tourists visited Pakistan in 2018.

Given this trend, in 2020 it was included in the list of 10 best remote tourist destinations internationally.

In light of recent encouraging reports, it is strongly felt that to regularize the tourism sector into the mainstream of the

national economy, all the obstacles that stand in the way of its full recovery should be removed.
